Statue Of Unity: World’s Largest Statue In Gujarat
India has the world’s tallest statue, The Statue of Unity which is twice the height of the Statue of Liberty. It built on a small island named Sadhu Bet of Narmada district, near the Sardar Sarovar Dam.
The giant statue’s height is 182-meter that built in honor of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. On the 31st October, this statue opened for the people around the world on the hand of Narendra Modi. The overall cost of the statue is Rs 2,389 crore.
The statue is dedicated to the Indian independence movement and located about 90 Km from Vadodara, 155 km from Surat and 200 km from the Ahmedabad. A 3.5 km highway built in the Sadhu Island to Nevada town that connects two ends of land.
After Mr. Modi unveils the statue; it creates tricolor in the sky with the help of three IAF planes, and at the same time, on the statue, two MI-17 helicopters would shower flowers. A dance performance and musical performance performed by the artist.
The major attraction of the statue of unity includes the valley of flowers which is 17 km long, a museum that shows the life story of the Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel and Narmada tent city for tourists. At the height of 135 meters and inside the statue, there is a viewing gallery. From this place, tourist can enjoy the mesmerizing view of the Sardar Sarovar am and nearby mountain ranges.
In the process of statue making, it used about 70000 tonnes of cement, 6000 tonnes of structural steel, 18500 tonnes of reinforcement steel. For the outer cladding of structure, 1,700 metric tonnes of bronze used as per the statement of the government.
The statue of unity can withstand up to the wind velocity of 60 m/sec, earthquakes and vibration. The surrounding area of the statue will be accessed by the individual boats to avoid the vehicular traffic.
The tallest statue of the world also has the Shrestha Bharat Bhavan, a laser, light and sound show, research center along with excellent view and entertainment. The research center is for the research and development of subjects like agricultural development and good governance.
Another attraction is a tent city that set up next to the pond 3 and 4 with 70,000 square meter area with facilities such as road, power supply, and drinking water. Tent city near pond 3 has 200 tens, and pond 4 has 50 tents in 50000 and 20000 square meter area respectively. Tent city powered with solar panels and it generates green energy. The organic waste generates in the tent city will converter into bio-fertilizer. On the reception area, a quiz has been installed on Sardar Patel’s life and works on the reception area of a tent city.
