Located in the North – western part of Arunachal Pradesh, Tawang is a high – altitude town lying in the lap of the mighty Himalayas. If you are a fan of both history as well as nature, then Tawang is the place you need to head to. Situated at a high elevation of 10,000 feet, it is a paradise for mountain lovers too. This attractive town which provides a perfect blend of nature and culture is filled with numerous tourist attraction places like peaceful Buddhist monasteries, high altitude passes, war memorials, scenic lakes with a picturesque landscape in the backdrop. Housing the largest monastery in India, Tawang monastery is around 113 feet long and 80 feet wide. The main attraction of the monastery is a stunning 28 feet high golden statue of Lord Buddha which is worshiped with utmost dedication by the worshippers.
