Located in the North – western part of Arunachal Pradesh, Tawang is a high – altitude town lying in the lap of the mighty Himalayas. If you are a fan of both history as well as nature, then Tawang is the place you need to head to. Situated at a high elevation of 10,000 feet, it is a paradise for mountain lovers too. This attractive town which provides a perfect blend of nature and culture is filled with numerous tourist attraction places like peaceful Buddhist monasteries, high altitude passes, war memorials, scenic lakes with a picturesque landscape in the backdrop. Housing the largest monastery in India, Tawang monastery is around 113 feet long and 80 feet wide. The main attraction of the monastery is a stunning 28 feet high golden statue of Lord Buddha which is worshiped with utmost dedication by the worshippers. The other attractions of Tawang include Tawang War memorial which was built to commemorate the martyrdom of the soldiers who lost their lives in the Sino – Indian war, Indo – China border, Craft Centre, Madhuri Lake, Bap Teng Kang Waterfall.
