This statue is made in the memory of the iron man of India, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel. The idea of making his statue was inception long time ago in 2010 when chief minister of Gujarat at that time, Narendra Modi propose and announce that time. it was also known as Gujarat’s tribute to the nation.
The construction of the statue of liberty started when the foundation stone of the statue was laid in 31st October 2013, on his 138th birth anniversary. The whole project was made in a well-timed manner in 40 months. At the cost of 2,989 crores, this colossal statue finally came to being.
Indian infrastructure company L&T was given the contract for a statue of unity, the bridge to connect the mainland the statue, exhibition hall and convention center and the maintenance of the statue for 15 years. They employed over 3000 workers and 250 engineers for this project. The statue is made of 210,000 cubic meters of concrete cement, 6500 tonnes of structural steel, and 18500 tonnes of reinforced steel. The outside of the statue is made of bronze, in total is made up of 1700 tones of bronze plates and 1850 tones of the bronze cladding. The initial design and 3D concept were first given to an American consultant but later they learn that it was based on the Indian statue maker Ram Sutar, later they give him the full responsibility to make 3 small size model of the statue.
